David Elsworth was born in Yorkshire but has now lived in Matlock for over 40 years with his wife Margaret. They have two daughters who live close by and have five grandchildren.
David retired 8 years ago after a career in the Civil Engineering profession working for both public and private organisations including British Rail, City of Leeds, Midland Road Construction Unit, Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick and Partners (as was), the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Team and Derbyshire County Council.
He has a university degree and remains a Chartered Civil Engineer.
David was also a retained firefighter based at Matlock Fire Station for over 20 years until his retirement at age 55.
On moving to Matlock it soon became apparent that it was a special place in which to live and he says “he will try to keep it that way and to help make it better still in his term of office”
