I have lived in Matlock since I retired from full-time work as an Anglican priest in London nine years ago. I have always been involved in community activity, and in my time have edited neighbourhood newsletters. In Tottenham, North London, I founded a community centre which is still going strong.
Among many other activities I have worked with rough sleepers around Euston Station, with the Little Sisters of Jesus helping the homeless, chaplain for British prisoners overseas and helping settle refugees in Enfield.
Since moving to Matlock I have worked with the Hurst Farm Community Association and was secretary to the Matlock Area University of the Third Age. I am still a development volunteer with the U3A Derbyshire Network, and Christian Aid organiser for Matlock.
Further afield, I was until recently, treasurer of the European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups where I was responsible for an annual budget of €150,000.
As a councillor I am the lead member for land owned and leased by Matlock Town Council, with a special responsibility for the Well Fields Allotment Society liaison working party. I take a great interest in ideas for the development of Matlock as a good place to live and work. I now look forward to working closely with Matlock Community Vision and the Civic Association in their efforts to improve the environment, particularly in the ‘heart of Matlock’ along the Bakewell Road.
