Mayor of Matlock for 2010/11 is County, District and Town Councillor Steve Flitter, a family man married to Ann with five sons, five grandsons and two granddaughters, Steve believes that family life is very important and forges the foundation for a strong community.

Steve is supporting the air ambulance during his year of office, a vital service that is so important to rural areas and is operated by professional volunteers. A series of fundraising events and collections will be held to raise monies. Anyone who would like to help should contact the Clerk to the Council.

Steve also wants to recognise those who make a valuable contribution to the community and this year wants to pay tribute to those in business who provide employment for local people and play a positive role in the local economy.

Steve believes that local people should have a platform to air their views and would welcome positive and constructive comment at town meetings saying, 'We should be proud of our town and we can only achieve our goals by working together in harmony'.
