Geoff is married to Jacquie with one married son, Dominic and they have 2 Grandsons

He and Jacquie trecently retired from running the family retail clothing business in Matlock.

One of Matlock's most experienced councillors being first elected to the District Council at the age of twenty-nine,  he was also a founder member of Matlock Town Council and has served a Mayor twice.

He is the current Deputy Leader of the Derbyshire Dales District Council, and is the Chairman of the new ARK leisure centre sub committee.  Since it's formation he has been the Chairman of the Matlock Joint Christmas Committee which organises the Matlock Victorian Christmas Weekend and Market, He is an active member of All Saints Parish Church, and is a Governor of All Saints Junior School, Chairman of the Derwent & Dove Scouts, and a member of Matlock Business Group. He is also a board member of the East Midlands Development Agency and has been the Vice Chairman of the East Midland Rural Affairs Forum.

Geoff enjoys music, cinema, theatre and sport and along with his wife their are joint presidents of the Matlock Musical Theatre.  Geiff is also well known for acting as a voluntary compare for events such as the Matlock Christmas weekend, the Venetian Nights at Matlock Bath and the Starkholmes Gala.
