Steep Turnpike Evangelical Church has been in existence since the mid 1940s as an independent fellowship of Christians. In earlier times the fellowship met in the St John Ambulance hut on Edge Road, Matlock until the present building was completed in 1958.
It continues to exist to provide a spiritual home for Christians believers for worship, fellowship and Bible teaching, as well as providing a base for sharing the message of the Christian gospel with the surrounding community.
