The Club was started in the early 1970’s and has around 60 members.

The aim is to provide social and recreational facilities in an atmosphere sympathetic to the hard-of hearing and to keep members informed on services and aids available to the hearing impaired. They have outings, talks, slide shows, craft sessions, a Christmas lunch, Bingo, and a trip to a pantomime, etc. yearly. For appropriate sessions, such as talks and meetings, Derbyshire County Council fund the hire of a speech interpretation service where a computer operator types what is being said and this is shown on a screen.
