Imperial Rooms Refurbishment

In 2004, Matlock Town Council commissioned consultants to undertake a 'healthcheck' of the Town.  Amongst other things, the healthcheck identified a need for a wider range of community facilities within the Town, incorporating space for the arts, exhibitions, performing arts and community groups.  The need for these facilities was also identified in the consultation process for the Matlock 'Masterplan' held by Derbyshire Dales District Council in June 2006.

The Town Council commissioned an Architectural Feasibility Study in November 2006 to identify some of the options that would be available to them should they wish to redevelop the Imperial Rooms.  Sketch plans of their preferred option are shown below.  It is the intention that these plans will form the starting point for discussion amongst the many users of the building and the residents of Matlock and the surrounding area.

Once funding has been identified, a full consultation process will take place as to how members of the public wish to see the Imperial Rooms develop, meanwhile your comments are welcomed.
