Remembrance Day is on 11 November. It commemorates all those who had fallen in the two World Wars and later conflicts. It was originally known as Armistice Day, but was renamed Remembrance Day after the Second World War.
A short informal ceremony is held at the Park Head, Matlock at 11 am. Remembrance 2 minutes silence and prayer.
Remembrance Sunday is held on the Sunday nearest to 11 November.

The Boxing Day Raft Race

Summer Band Concerts
Spend a relaxing afternoon in delightful surroundings in the heart of beautiful Matlock, Hall Leys Park, 2-4pm every Sunday from the end of June to the August Bank holiday weekend.
Some of the very best bands in the area bringing the very best of traditional brass band music. There will be old favourites and as ever a little twist of something new, so we invite you to meet up with friends and family, or spend a peaceful afternoon on your own, with a picnic or perhaps a treat or two from one the many super cafes around the town.
Matlock Photographer of the Year Competition
Matlock Photographer of the Year has been running since 2011 and Matlock Town Council are pleased to announce that they are now working alongside Matlock Camera Club to co ordinate the competition.
The theme for the year is announced in June and the competition runs from the date of this announcement through to 31 December each year. To qualify for entry photos must be taken in Matlock during the year. Prizes are awarded at the Annual Town Meeting in May.
